Lyrics
Everybody there was Drinkin' Martinis but me Chuck Hughes ASCAP I went to a bar just the other night To check out a few of my friends I'm just an everyday workin' guy and I can't always follow the trends I stepped up and ordered up a shot and a beer But the bartender acted like she didn't hear I had 20 bucks that I just couldn't seem to spend The waitress there called me a square The cats playin' pool called me a fool I couldn't figure out what the trouble could be Then I began to see Everybody there was drinkin' martinis but me Every time I'd say Hi they'd get up and start to leave I felt like mud, drinkin' a bud Threw out a line, but it was a dud Everybody yhere was drinkin' martinis but me They're in a cute little glass on a stem that says “please try me” But I took a little sip one time and I thought it was slimey A funny little drink, shiny and cold, served in a glass that's hard to hold But it sure looks good just sittin' there wet and shiny They're not long as a beer, or quick as a shot, or nearly as hip as a single malt scotch For a workin' guy they sure cost a lot And I can't buy many with the money I got
