Last year was a trying one for me. It felt like
every day some outside force was telling me, “You’re mortal.
Now deal with it.” And the best that I can do in the face of
that is to try and enjoy it all while it lasts. Take pleasure in the
simple things. Love the sound of the rain. Slow down enough
to be aware of the joy in that. And recording this song was a
joy, because we let ourselves take turns that surprised us--the
electric 12-string, for instance.
