This song tells the story of a young gun who is trying to pin down who his father was. The conversation is between a mother and son as he presses for the answer and she resists with a haunted sorrow. The story reveals a deep desire from the son to punish the man that may have raped his mother. Yet the words of the mother make the relationship seem a bit more suspect as she insists that nobody knew who he was there is a hint of unrequited love.
