Description

This song tells the story of a young gun who is trying to pin down who his father was. The conversation is between a mother and son as he presses for the answer and she resists with a haunted sorrow. The story reveals a deep desire from the son to punish the man that may have raped his mother. Yet the words of the mother make the relationship seem a bit more suspect as she insists that nobody knew who he was there is a hint of unrequited love.

Lyrics

There was a strange man in town this morning mom and nobody knew who he was. Could he be the same that fathered you son? 'Cause nobody knew who he was. Why must you go on playing games my child you know your father's dead and gone you know he's never comin' back to us again and nobody knew who he was. There was a strange man in town this morning mom and nobody knew who he was. Could he be the same that fathered you son? 'Cause nobody knew who he was. Why must you go on playing games my child you know your fathers in his grave . If you would stop these silly games my child just think of the time you would save. There was a strange man in town this morning mom and nobody knew who he was. Could he be the same that fathered you son? 'Cause nobody knew who he was. And what was left for his one and only son? an empty feeling and a cold metalic gun. Lie lie la lie lie And when I find him I will put him in his grave its the one and only thought thats making me a slave. (Guitar lead) Ah ah, No No, There was a strange man in town this morning mom and nobody knew who he was. Could he be the same that fathered you son? 'Cause nobody knew who he was. Copyright (c) Barone & Havener MM Originally written and performed on 2 accoustic guitars with 2 voices, this is a slightly fuller version of the song. Hope you like it!
