Description
This song was written as a tribute to the recently late Gerry Rafferty. When he passed on 1/5 of this year, I wanted to do something to honor an artist who has heavily influenced me over the years. The song structure, and many elements were chosen specifically to commemorate his works over the years. Even the title was an Atomic Honey response to his great album "City To City."
Lyrics
Time may go on forever, And maybe you're right it's for stealin', I sit by the waterside dreamin' Just like you told me, I still don't get it. Everything's changin' for me, I feel cold inside since you've gone; I can't believe that we're spinnin' so fast A thousand miles and hour-- Or so they tell me... What's it all mean? Where to begin? Why did you have to leave us so soon? Where did you go? When will I know? How can I tell if you're home, Or just living, dreaming, loving, Planet to planet now? Woke me to things I didn't see, Put something better inside of me; I wait for the light in the city, Spirits came and went without a sound. A time and a place for everything, I suppose you would tell me, If you were here; But that won't bring back the magic That left us, When you left us... Or so I tell them... What's it all mean? Where to begin? Why did you have to leave us so soon? Where did you go? When will I know? How can I tell if you're home or just Living, dreaming, loving, Planet to planet now?
