A cynical take on what it feels like to be in a rebound-relationship situation. The narrator in the song is describing to someone (a potential lover) how the relationship will be simple, fair, honest, and implies it will be completely devoid of love. The narrator states that neither person will feel regret. That there will be a mutual utilization of one another for the purpose of escaping pain (assumed to be brought on by the unwanted end of a previous relationship).
