Next Big Thing by
Wildy HaskellOne Step Away is a rising dynamic force in Boston. It’s easy to see how they could be the next big thing from the Boston scene to rise to national prominence. Unique Music by
Tyler GrooveOne Step Away has a lot going for it. They’ve played to over a thousand people at Boston City Hall Plaza and a standing room only crowd at Hard Rock Cafe Boston. ... They clearly tap into their influences while maintaining their originality. This isn’t indie “stare at your iPhone” music, this is mid-90s hard pop rock in the vein of Breaking Benjamin and Three Doors Down with a touch of metal. Keep your eyes on these guys, I won’t be surprised when they are receiving regular airplay on rock stations near you. Getting to Know One Step Away by

SIR Magazine September 2010Album Review: For The Broken by One Step Away 09/13/2010

For the Broken is that special album you find yourself listening to on long drives, late nights and early mornings. Its the perfect body of music to ease you out of summer season and into the fall. Each song takes you into moments of nostalgia-induced daydreams - where you remember the place in your life that relates most. Its not young music or old music.....its human music. The perfected instrumentals coupled with authentic lyrics and strong vocals, add a sense of reality that everyone can feel connected to.
The album paints varied portraits of relationships, love and broken hearts. "Riptide"is a strong rock ballad about the confusing end of a relationship where one is fighting the inevitable. Then there are the energetic Rock tracks "Here We Go" and "In This Moment" where one questions the mistruths from their partner. Comprised of Terence Healy (Lead Guitar), Adam Carrington (Lead Vocals), Mike Nuzzolo, (Bass & Vocals) and Ben Trudeau (Drums), One Step Away has created a refreshing body of music that will surely reaffirm and seal them as Pop/Rock sensations. ...they are totally locked in to be stars... by

For The Broken
Adam Carrington (vocals), Terrence Healy (guitar), Ben Trudeau (drums) and Michael Nuzzolo (bass) are the Boston based One Step Away. The rock pop outfit recently released their self released debut For The Broken.
I had to focus on the songwriting, musicianship, and overall talent of these young men. In all instances they are totally locked in to be stars. The most impressive thing about these four guys is their musical abilities and how together they sound. Adam Carrington has a good vocal range and style and it is not annoying and repetitive, which kept me listening and washed away the stereotypes rather quickly. Terrence Healy is a first-rate guitar player, peeling off riffs like it was second nature, and the rhythm section action of Ben Trudeau (drums) and Michael Nuzzolo (bass) are equal to the task, making this quartet a power pop act to be reckoned with.
I think every track is radio ready and a potential hit for this band. This is not my typical listening experience and I would not seek out this type of music but that is a matter of personal taste. I do know talent and potential when I hear it and this band has it all. I know for a fact there are millions of kids out there that will eat this stuff up. If a major label misses picking up One Step Away they will be kicking themselves in the pants for eternity.
There is a predictable formula here with the music and lyrics but that is what sells folks so they are on the right track and dare I say…One Step Away from fulfilling all of their aspirations.

One Step Away - For the Broken
Record Label: Unsigned
Release Date: September 12th, 2010
February marks the time of year where east coast folk like myself begin longing for nicer weather. Its been snow storm after snow storm, and its gotten so bad that I have weird nightmares that I'll never see the grass in my backyard again. Listening to music usually soothes these fears, especially the music that brings back old memories stemming from summer or spring time. But for a winter of this magnitude, I needed something big- and that's where One Step Away's new full-length, For the Broken, comes into play.
For the Broken is best described as a NOW compilation -- but instead of crappy radio hits, the album is reminiscent of the pop bands that are keeping this genre alive. Opener "Here We Go" is straight out of The Fold's Dear Future... handbook whereas "Need You" has a little Boys Like Girls in it (before they went all Bon Jovi on us). The closer "All the Little Things" could very well be mistaken as a Holiday Parade song. Truthfully, if Runner Runner released the debut album that people were expecting, it would probably sound close to For the Broken.
Normally with comparisons like these, one would think One Step Away is a typical, disposable act, but it's not to say that they lack originality. It's pretty near impossible to find a completely original band in pop rock now anyway, which is why it's nice to see a band attempt to put their own spin on songs to separate themselves from the sea of those trying to cash in on what's popular. Songs like "Tomorrow and Forever" and the ballad "Riptide" should be what younger bands in the genre aim to emulate. When pop rock eventually starts to fade, it'll be easier to scope out what's worth a listen; One Step Away has the potential to be close to the top.
Maybe people have grown sick of music that brings on the scent of summer. I know I'm sick of music trying to make me go anywhere near a dancefloor. If I never hear the word "slizzard" again, it would be too soon. But for what it's worth, One Step Away's For the Broken isn't like most summer soundtracks. When I listen, I'm not thinking of crazy parties with girls who don't like me, or long drives with the windows rolled down. That's exclusive New Found Glory territory. For the Broken is more of a "night at the beach staring down the ocean" or "watching the sunset with your best friends" type of record, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
