Although it didn’t start under its current name, Phavian has always been a collaboration between the brothers Puyan and Patrick Hassani. The two have been writing songs together since Patrick first bought a drum kit under the urgings of his older brother so he would have someone to jam with. The brothers were in no rush to take their songs, make a band and hit the road. Instead, each song was carefully crafted, refined, revamped and refined again. After an exhausting search a second guitarist, Tomo Yokoyama, a college classmate of Patrick’s, was added to the band. The sound of the group grew to include duel harmonies and more leads. Only a few months later, bassist Jason Lobell joined the lineup and a period of intense writing began. With the material for the first album fleshed out all that was required was a lead singer. The band's long, often frustrating search concluded with the discovery of singer Elizabeth Matson. Phavian is currently gigging around southern California and promoting the release of their debut album, "Kiena."
