2nd Floor Request

Mathew Slovacek only began to play guitar in January 2009. Immediately he started to write songs with a southern, soulful spirit. He knew that he wanted to start a band, however it do not happen quickly. For nearly a year he played gigs with just two instruments, his guitar and voice. On a Friday at the Garage in Denton while discussing his musical aspirations with a co-worker named Eric McCrea, Eric let him know that he was a drummer. They had known each other and worked together for over a year before Matt was aware of Eric's drumming abilities. They had a jam session and meshed quickly. They booked a gig togther at the Garage on Fry St. (Matt was the slated solo artist playing there every other Wed.) Before the show Matt was thinking out loud about adding a bass player to the mix. Eric suggested Will Manley. Eric and Will played roller hockey for North Texas and had been on rink buddies for about a year. Eric approached Will about joining duo and playing with them for the upcoming show, he accpted. After only one practice, the new band took the "stage" at the Garage. The show was an unprecendted success. (despite copious amounts of alcohol and Will having a mic) After one more show at the Garage, Will's long time friend David Carlile joined the band playing Electric Guitar. The final and crucial piece of the puzzle was found. David's guitar playing perfectly complements and rounds out the rest of the bands instrumentation. 2nd Floor Request is now complete and playing in Denton and around the greater North Texas area.
