California for one year. "I think there
were many factors that led me to music but spending a year right in the heart
of it all, allowed me to see some really
great bands perform. I started listening
to some music that I really fell in
love with. I would convince my dad to take to me to LA, so I could see
bands play on the Sunset Strip." says Alexandra. When she returned to Canada, she decided to try music herself. " "I started to learn guitar and take singing lessons and started performing in the local music festival and talent shows" she says. After learning some chords on the guitar, Alexandra began writing her own music. " I think I had a passion for music when I would sing, but writing took it to a new level. It was an amazing outlet for me and became such a fun hobby" says Alexandra. The hobby soon became a passion once Alexandra left high school for a year to home school and allow more time for her music. " I left school because I wanted to take time for myself, so that I could learn as much as I could about music and I started commuting to the city to take lessons and perform." After graduating high school in 2005, Alexandra once again left for Los Angeles and attended the Musician's Institute, a forward thinking music college in the heart of Hollywood. She then recorded her first EP in Woodland Hills studio. The EP includes five of her original songs. "Recording is the most fun I have ever had. There's nothing better than turning a blank disk into an album. I loved the experience and can't wait to do it again" she says. Alexandra now lives in Whistler, BC and says Vancouver is the next stop for her. " I am excited to get back to the city in 2010 and show people the new songs that I have been working on."
