“Is this heaven? No, it’s Iowa,” home to country music’s newest up-and-coming female artist, Ali Beck. Growing up all things country, Ali was raised alongside her three sisters and one brother on their family farm in Manchester, just miles from the set of the iconic movie Field of Dreams. “To me there is no better childhood. Living in the country, being in the wide-open; there’s a freedom out there you won’t find anywhere else.” Ali’s love for music caught hold of her at an early age. “When my sisters and I were young, our parents took us to see Reba McEntire, Lorrie Morgan, Marie Osmond and The Oak Ridge Boys,” among others. “For me, that’s where it all started.” Taking piano lessons, singing in church and school choirs, playing in the school band, and listening to radio, Ali quickly developed an ear for melodies. Honing her craft throughout college, she experimented in the studio and auditioned for competitions, including Nashville Star and Colgate Country Showdown. In 2004, Ali sailed on that wide-open freedom she fostered as a child to Music City U.S.A. Through the National Student Exchange Program, she studied for a year at Tennessee State University while interning on Music Row and working at the Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium. “Taking that leap of faith and making the move to Nashville was the best thing I ever did. Working with some of the industry’s most respected individuals and at the Ryman, it’s hard to sum up what that experience was like for me. My dream was becoming reality. As a kid, I had imagined what Nashville was like and would get this magical feeling every time I heard the words Nashville or Tennessee. The day I moved, those same feelings overcame me. I knew this was where I was supposed to be.” Since 2007, Ali has called Nashville home. Writing, recording and opening for award winning artists Gretchen Wilson, Sawyer Brown, Gary Allan and Rodney Atkins has earned Ali a reputation as a young artist with a bright future. Inspired by some of her influences including Martina McBride, Sara Evans and Shania Twain, Ali took to the studio with her vibrant, powerful voice to record her demo debut. “The studio is one of my favorite places to be. It’s an incredible thing; the atmosphere, the creative energy within those walls and the way in which it fuses together. It’s electrifying.” Recording songs capturing the liberty of life and happiness of love, her music is sure to win the hearts of country fans young and old alike. The playful tune ‘Getaway Heart’ challenges the fear of commitment. “It’s a happy love song letting that someone special know, ‘don't want to stop you, just want to go too.’” ‘I Wanna Go Somewhere’ parallels Ali’s desire for an escape. “We all dream of going somewhere and this song emits the magic of what we will find when we get there.” And sure to have you singing along is the catchy lyric of ‘When You're Lovin’ Me.’ It is a beautiful picture of how “the simple things in a relationship matter the most.” From the studio to the stage, Ali is paving her way in country music. In the Field of Dreams a voice whispers, “If you build it,” they will come. There is no doubt Ali hears that same voice; building one song, one stage at a time.
