It was a cool day in March. The Stiff Wires were at Beach Road Studios with producer Siegfried Meier working on their debut album. The Stiff Wires were a band in turmoil, just two short weeks before entering the studio the band parted ways with then lead guitar player Jamie Barber, and although new addition Bryce Cody stepped right in and created what can only be described as magic in such a short time, something was just not sitting well with the band as a whole. Although things were going extremely well in the studio and as musicians they were as tight as ever the overall dynamic just seemed a little off. Even though they were a band on the move heading in an upward direction after gaining nation wide exposure on a national TV show and with their fan base growing more and more by the day, they just felt that something was missing and they couldn’t quite put their finger on it, and it seemed odd because everything was seeming to go their way as far as relationships in the band and the music they were playing. Nevertheless they pressed on. On the second last day of recording and laying down vocal tracks the band was bringing in some key people to do some vocals on a few songs, and little did they realize at the time that this would be the beginning of a brand new future for these four lads out of London, Ontario Canada. Enter feisty little April Romano. Fiery and brash this little girl can not only sing, but can hold her own with the boys as well on every level. After her vocal tracks were down and the play back to “This Is Boredom” was done it didn’t take very long for the rest of the group to start thinking about just exactly what was missing from this band. Although it wasn’t immediately obvious at that moment, it was only a few short days before Danny Kidd was talking that The Stiff Wires really weren’t that band anymore and that maybe they should seriously change things up. Although a name change for the band had been discussed before it never went far. Senior and one of only two founding members left in the band drummer Jesse Reyes always opposed the change, but he also knew that April would never join the band as it stood, and finally relented. It was finally agreed that the band would ask April to join as a full time member, and with the new band a new name would need to follow. However instead of a new name the band decided to recycle an old band name from an acoustic three piece that Danny Kidd, April Romano, and guitarist Brandyn Walkom once had. Hence All The Trendy Kids were born or reborn and there has been no looking back. With over 400 live performances amongst this group of talented young people All The Trendy Kids is the band that these musicians have been working towards for the last several years, and it comes almost as a happy accident. On May 22nd All The Trendy Kids head back to the studio with Siegfried Meier to take over where that other band left off. All The Trendy Kids are coming out of the gate fast, and have scheduled a release for the album in August 2010. SJS
