Analog Moon was formed in 2004 when guitarist, Todd Britton, enlisted the help of keyboardist, Rusty Ginn, to create a band that would draw from the great rock artists of six decades while continuing to forge a path toward something new and unheard. With Britton on guitar and vocals and Ginn on piano, keyboards, and the occasional rhythm guitar, the instrumentation is grounded in the gritty palette of early 70s rock and roll. The band takes nods from The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Clapton, Bowie, and many other great artists and bands of this period. The structure and crafting of the original material is rooted in this period of maturing psychedelia but also draws from the pop sensibilities of the 80s and alternative attitude of the 90s. The band doesn’t fail to consider its contemporaries as well. Listed right alongside these classic influences are current bands such as The Flaming Lips, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket. Analog Moon is able to take all of these influences and still deliver something fresh to the listener. With a tight rhythm section consisting of James Ervin on bass guitar and Chris Jones on drums, each performance is delivered with an immediacy that belongs in rock and roll. The music is strangely familiar but in the now. The Analog Moon live experience is not something that one will soon forget, and each performance leaves the listener as well as the performer wanting more.Analog Moon regularly tours the southeast and has played in some of the region’s most popular music festivals such as Columbia’s 2006 St. Patty’s In 5 Points Celebration, The 2006 Three Rivers Music Festival, and the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Free Times Music Crawl. Their live show has come to be known as an audio-visual adventure. Their new album is enjoying FM radio airtime regionally in the southeastern US as well as in Europe and on XM Satellite Radio.
