Andrew grew up in the seaside town of Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland and was in love with music right from the beginning. After a period of mixing dance music as a teenager he bought his first guitar at the age of 20. Andrew skipped the usual first step of learning to play cover songs and immediately began writing his own. He taught himself to play guitar using chords he found in a chart that came free with the purchase of the guitar. In early 2009 he released his debut album 'parables' recorded in his own small home recording studio. 'Parables' was somewhat more dark and brooding in spirit than more recent material and included some excellent tracks such as 'why run' and 'drug release'. In late 2009 Andrew formed the band 'sixtyfold' with several musician friends and began gigging around Northern Ireland with the new material. The band recorded the initial version of second album 'I Stand Knockin' before work commitments forced them to go their separate ways. Back to being a solo artist and with more experience under his belt, Andrew decided to re-work the best of his tracks from both albums along with some newer songs and release the finished product for free online. His sound is primarily an acoustic-driven one, often sweet and soulful, sometimes thunderous, but never to the exclusion of everything else. Straight but effective drums and bass are the foundation upon which he uses harmonica, strings, chugging acoustics and haunting electrics to build and create musical landscapes. Like an old-school singer/songwriter with obvious influences from Neil Young and Richard Ashcroft, his organic, gravelly voice lends itself to his style well. "The most refreshing thing about his music however is its resounding honesty. In a world where artificial seems to be the major currency, truth is a beautiful and ever-more endangered commodity. He has all the makings of a truly great songwriter a) the ability to shamelessly bare his soul in his lyrics and b) the melodies and musical talent to back them up. Georgia Thomas, independent music reviewer.
