Anne E. DeChant first caught the attention of local music fans as the charismatic frontwoman of Odd Girl Out, showcasing her astute, socially aware songs. Following the band's breakup, she went on to a busy solo career, producing four CDs, including her rock-oriented debut, "Effort of the Spin", the introspective "Something of the Soul", intimate storytellers CD, "Live, An Evening with Anne E. DeChant" and the sparkling, tuneful "Pop the Star". This last is produced by Don Dixon whose resume includes producing, writing and performing credits with R.E.M., Hootie and the Blowfish, The Counting Crows, Joe Cocker, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Marti Jones, The Smithereens and Marshall Crenshaw. Anne, 5-time winner of Cleveland's Best Singer Songwriter award (Cleveland's Scene Magazine), and 2007 inductee into The Cleveland Free Times Magazine's All Star Musician Category, recently completed her fifth album, "Girls and Airplanes" at Rolling Thunder Studios in San Diego. So impressive was Anne's live show aboard Olivia Cruise Lines, that a representative of Rolling Thunder Studios approached her after one performance and offered her a trip to San Diego to record a demo. Work began on that demo and before it was finished, Anne was offered a deal for full-length CD. The result: DeChant's most lush, finely crafted recording to date. "Girls and Airplanes" is produced by Andy Ackland (Entertainment Tonight, Dishwalla, The Eagles, The Darkness, Tom Petty, Jason Mraz, Josh Stone) and the pairing of Ackland and DeChant will not only delight her fans but turn the heads of those who have been waiting to hear a voice so passionate, outspoken and profound. Anne has performed at The White House, opened for Nora Jones, Stevie Nicks, Joan Jett, Train, Vonda Shepard, 10,000 Maniacs, and Guster, to name a few. She appeared in the Vagina Monologues as Cleveland's Belkin Productions pick for celebrity guest performer, done countless radio and television performances, and logged hundreds of club dates. In 2005 Anne was invited to be a showcase performer on Olivia Cruise Lines Eastern Carribean Cruise along with Melissa Etheridge and a host of other performers. Her political "sound-off" "Second Class Citizen" (included on "Girls and Airplanes") and Second Class Citizen T-shirts were highlighted in the August 16th, 2006 issue of The Advocate. The song and shirt deal with the issue of same-sex marriage in the United States and the relegation of same-sex couples to the status of 2nd Class Citizens under the law. DeChant is a standout delivering brilliant performances from her long list of poignant, melodic songs. Anne's format stretches from solo/acoustic, acoustic duo and trio to full band performances. Each one is a unique experience offering her audience and venues a performance tailor made. She is a storyteller, creating characters as diverse as the landscapes in which she paints them. Anne E. currently resides in Nashville TN. Anne E. DeChant is a seasoned artist that is as gutsy as she is sensitive, as subtle as she is striking, and is poised for a position on the national stage and beyond.
