In a scene virtually absent of southern roots Arms Over Broadway didn’t hesitate in dropping their screamo moniker and adopting the new challenge of bringing the genre of southern rock to their northern environment. This southern rock quintet wastes not time in captivating their audience through their passionate music as well as a raucous live show. After their first full length release, Against The Myriad, in June 2007 Arms Over Broadway went through some serious line up changes which placed the band in an awkward position. They proved they were worth their spit by pulling themselves out of a short hiatus, and once again taking the music scene by force. By fall 2007 Arms Over Broadway created its current and most stable line up and changed their sound completely. It was evident to the band that to make an impact on the music scene they needed to play music that was emotional, passionate, and pertained to their lives at the time. It seemed that a genre change would be for the better, and they began the steep climb over the mountain of opposition that would come with their genre change. they hope that their newest release, The Horse and The Rider EP will embody that change. Arms Over Broadway’s live show is anything less than exceptional. It is obvious that these boys really put their heart into their music. The drummer, Jimmy Mullen, is like a tornado behind his drum kit with his hair and arms flying all over the place melting into one giant blur of destruction and rhythmic precision. Guitarist, Matt Mullen, adds class to the live show as he manages to nail each riff perfectly yet captivate the crowd with his fluid movements. Guitarist, Eric Salituro, manages to surprise the crowd each time with southern-esque guitar solos and his chest pounding rhythmic breakdowns as well as his seemingly random guitar throws that only elevate his live performance. Lead singer, Nicholas Weeks is another story with his boyish good looks and powerful voice he can leave and audience speechless. It is really hard to tell where he will be on the stage at one period of time, be it on the floor or throwing himself off the drum kit, Nicholas is never standing still. Bassist, Curtis Emery, the newest edition to this motley crew, helps add the chaotic element to the live show. If his instrument is in the same position for more than one second he isn’t playing his hardest, you can feel his energy as he throws his bass all over the place, over his head, between his legs and some times off his body. Arms Over Broadway values its frenzied live show, however they will never compromise their tightness to move a crowd.
