In early 2008, guitarist/singer/songwriter, Philip McEwan decided to expand his wings in the Glasgow rock scene and embarked on a quest to find a lead vocalist. In early 2008, guitarist/singer/songwriter, Philip McEwan decided to expand his wings in the Glasgow rock scene and embarked on a quest to find a lead vocalist. After a relentless search, he stumbled upon one Sonje du Toit, fresh in Glasgow from South Africa. The pair clicked instantly and subsequently started writing together, creating a blend of alternative rock guitar coupled with Sonje's haunting voice and introspective lyrics. After several false starts and departing band members the pair finally got their act together earlier this year and recruited James Brown on drums and Ben McKay on guitar, both bringing their own unique styles to the band to create the sound of Around Zero. Less than 2 months after forming the band have performed countless gigs to various plaudits around Glasgow and have recently finished recording their debut, the 'Wait...' E.P.
