The Stiles Brothers started out as kids. For a dollar, Brandon and Michael Stiles sold homemade concert tickets to willing grandparents and cousins, who in turn watched the boys slap broomstick guitars and coffee can drum sets in the Brothers’ earliest attempt at starting a band. While growing up in Marietta, Ga., the Brothers were surrounded by musical family members and friends, which sparked a passion of their own for creating music that people could dance and sing to. That passion, along with the records of Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and Kenny Chesney, set in motion a journey to make original music—new and lively tunes influenced by the melodies and sounds of their country heroes. In 2012, the duo settled in Atlanta with a desire to develop their craft to its utmost level, with a goal to gain ground on the top performers in their genre. After studying and pouring over their favorite records and singles, the Brothers developed a list of seventy-five favorite Nashville songwriters. They contacted each one, asking if they would be interested in co-writing a song with them. After a few weeks, they were lucky enough to hear back from a few, including #1 hit songwriter Mark Nesler (Tim McGraw, Keith Urban). So began the musical journey. Through countless co-writes and performances with some of Atlanta’s most talented local acts, the Stiles Brothers quickly became a favorite of musicians and bar-goers in the big city. In September, the Brothers released their first all-original eponymous EP, produced by Paul Reeves at Domus Sound Studios in Athens, Ga. The album reflects the serious musicianship and laidback personalities of the Brothers, mixing upbeat party singles with a few slow-dance tunes thrown in for good measure. As a band, the Stiles Brothers set out to create a fresh take on country music by blending the stories of legendary Nashville writers with bluegrass backing and loud guitars—a musician’s band that writes infectiously catchy tunes for the listener.
