Audio Fiction band

New York, NY

Biography

Audio Fiction first banded together in New York City in early 2003. Audio Fiction delivers indie rock at its best, blending melodic hooks and shrewd lyrics with dynamic solid rock to create their catchy songs. They've been compared to Garbage and No Doubt, but they're more like the resulting bastard stepchild of both. The band’s four members bring art, music, politics and attitude to what had become a stagnant rock scene over the last decade. Life matters, people hurt and it’s not all abou...

Life matters, people hurt and it’s not all about BLING anymore. If this band doesn’t epitomize the true meaning of “independence” then the Pope is not a catholic. Through sheer grit and determination, this self managed band produced one EP and their self-titled debut album, formed their own record label to distribute and market them, produced and shot their own music videos, authored their song Race the Hourglass for Harmonix’s Rock Band game and became one of the few first true independent bands to debut on the Rock Band network. Their tenacity is starting to pay off. Despite having no marketing budgets or big label tour support, Audio Fiction have been resourceful. They have received a ton of critical acclaim in a variety of online and print outlets - from The New York Daily News, The New York Post and The Village Voice, to The Hollywood Reporter, The Deli Magazine, OK Magazine, Curve Magazine, The Aquarian, The Sun (Ireland), and Gothamist.com and Stereogum. Ireland's version of Rolling Stone, and early adopter of U2, Hot Press Magazine, featured the band and put them on their "Hot Band's to Watch". Since their first performance at the now closed legendary Le Bar Bat, NYC, the band have now graduated to playing venues like The Mercury Lounge, Maxwells, Knitting Factory, BB Kings and Pianos in New York City. The band were thrilled to play The Hammerstein Ballroom last year in NYC –“we finally got to play music standing more than 10 feet apart the stage was so big!” Audio Fiction has already appeared on ABC's Good Morning America and is fast becoming a favorite in the New York Post's infamous gossip column "Page Six." They produced their video for “Way Out” for an unbelievable $350, and when you see the video, you’ll be amazed they made it for so little. People describe Audio Fiction's sound as throw-back power-pop-rock-punk, with catchy riffs, brilliant guitar solos and deceptively serious lyrics. Audio Fiction prefers a more metaphorical description: “we offer you cotton candy, then kick you in the teeth, all while you're dancing”. But this band recognizes that none of this would have been possible without the support and enthusiasm of their dedicated fans, for which Audio Fiction are eternally grateful. This is not a cliché! You help realize their dreams of a career in music, dedicated to song writing and creative flourish….with the occasional rock start antics thrown in.
