On the road 24/7, Australian artist Aurora Jane has a story like no other. Her music reflects the vast distances she travels, spanning diverse genres, but residing most comfortably in a funky, rootsy groove. Sharing stories while she's on the move between the Australian desert, India and North America, Aurora Jane's songs display an insightful global perspective, yet retain a breathtaking intimacy. Once described as 'the secret love child of Jimi Hendrix and Ani Di Franco', this fiery- haired, guitar-wielding songstress traverses uncharted territory with her energetic live shows and refined studio recordings. Aurora Jane's latest album Universal Language was recorded in Byron Bay, Australia and New Delhi, India. Headlining the famous Roots Festival in North East India in both 2006 and 2007, Aurora Jane played to live audiences in excess of 20,000 people, alongside local and international acts and Grammy-award winning chant-master Lama Tashi. Yet Aurora Jane's biggest live show to date was back in 2004, when she headlined World Music Festival Ladakh to a live TV broadcast audience of 1 billion! Aurora Jane likes to keep good musical company. Massive Change, her ever-evolving, ever-revolving band, most recently featured the talents of Nat Pa'a Pa'a (Blue King Brown), Mel Watson (Fruit), Arjun Sen (Indian guitar virtuoso), Ember Swift and Lyndell Montgomery in the studio on Universal Language. Over her ten year career Aurora Jane has proudly shared the stage with: John Butler Trio, Pete Murray, Blue King Brown, Fruit, Diana Anaid, Mal Webb, Lama Tashi, Rachelle Van Zanten, Little Birdy, Lior, The Beautiful Girls... Taking time out from a busy tour schedule, Aurora Jane regularly facilitates music workshops on remote Aboriginal communities for Music Outback Foundation. Celebrating music as the ultimate cross-cultural communication device has long been Aurora Jane's passion. Back in 2002 she travelled to East Timor, recording and producing music documentaries for ABC Radio, Radio National and Triple J about the role of music in East Timor's struggle for Independence. Experience Aurora Jane. Distinctive. Organic. Innovative. Progressive. 'Real music for real people'.
