Marcus ''Benda'' Boyd, born to a mother who was a licensed hair stylist/entrepreneur and father a musician & hustler gave him a very humbling balance. Though growing up in Chicago’s famous and diverse Wicker Park Neighborhood, he was still faced with gangs and other harsh realities often leaving him the ultimatum to make some very regretful and difficult decisions. Fed up with the streets he began hanging out with a crew known as “Lerical Tribe” which featured his older brother. Following in the footsteps of his brother Marlo, he came to find his true gift.Rocking a crowd at an early age came easy for him as a hype man for several artists and groups, but he wanted and needed to show his creative abilities on his own. His passion and determination of an entertainment career landed Benda on the ''Jenny Jones Show''. His lyrical energy and performance on the show sparked the attention of ''Red Zone Entertainment''. While still searching for the perfect label situation, Benda continue to work with acts such as Do or Die and the rap duo Boo & Gotti. The tables finally began to turn with an encounter with Chicago Music Mogul Burundi “Bun P” Partlow'. He offered Benda a chance to prove himself with an opening performance for ''Twista'' and Benda brought down the house. Impressed with his talent, Bun P was instrumental in building Benda’s career so he placed him in some colossal situations. Benda worked with Super producers Kanye West, and Steve Stone Huff. He was feature on a Violator Allstar DJs Mixtape with the song entitled Rub 1 Out (Xavier Exon Feat Elephant Man & Benda). Benda was also given an opportunity to perform for ''Wayne Williams'' Sr. Vice President or A& R for Jive Records who loved Benda’s vibe what he heard. Benda began to feel he was truly ready for his shot at the spotlight.Bun P offered Benda his first major deal with Legit Ballaz Records and KOCH Entertainment as the fourth member in the famed Legit Ballaz Camp in 2005. Benda’s first national release as part of the group ''Legit Ballaz'' was released Feb 21, 2006 entitled ''THA TRUTH''vol.4. With the Album pre-selling an estimated 13,000 copies, the label was in no way disappointed in the overwhelming response it received for their newest arrival. Since this date he has been in numerous videos including ''Barnfire'' for the Midwest monster group ''Crucial Conflict'' and PHEAVES “Ride It Like A Motorcycle”. Benda has recently performed in Kankakee, Joliet, Chicago HOUSE OF BLUES, Excalibur, Radio Star, VAiN, Enclave, Chicago Puerto Rican Day Parades 2005 and 2006, the official back to school Juke with D.E.RECORDZ, Cap 1, and Crucial Conflict & Pheave. Benda has also had the opportunity to have been on stage with Kanye West, Common, GLC, Miltickit, plus an opening performance for R&B superstar ''Ne-Yo''! CHICAGO (December 7, 2007) BeNda – In a city overflowing with talent, tastemakers and trendsetters, another hip-hop megastar is set to surface. The Hip-Hop Scene has finally passed the mic to Chicago’s own “ BeNda”, and it is long overdue. Better known to the entertainment community as “Mr. WGCI’s Man of the Month” and the star of The Legit Ballaz 2006 “The Truth” Volume 4 CD, it is time for him to step out on his own! Marcus “BeNda” Boyd’s lyrical gift gained notoriety at an early age by the hip-hop group “Lerical Tribe”. His metaphorical talent and energy landed him on the ‘Jenny Jones Show” and caught the attention of Red Zone Entertainment. It wasn’t until Chicago music mogul Berundi “Bun P” Partlow tested his talent as an opening act for the Lyrical Phenom “Twista”, that it was realized that BeNda was a rap gorilla in the midst truly plotting his chance to emerge. He has since worked with and received accolades from Superstar and Mega producer Kanye West, Steve Stone Huff, Jive Records Senior A&R Exec Wayne Williams, Dance Hall King Elephant Man, the rap group Boo & Gotti and Violator DJ Scrap Dirty to name a few. The nation’s received a taste of BeNda in 2006 when he inked a group deal with Legit Ballaz Records and KOCH Entertainment. The CD entitled “Tha Truth” Volume 4 featured BeNda as the fourth member of the Famed Legit Ballaz camp where again his lyrical presence took center stage. In the words of BeNda “I never stop dreaming, believing, growing and learning. Those are the keys to my success”. The official launch of BeNda’s hit single “In My Life”, featuring R&B Balladeer Traye-D, hit the airwaves running this past November. The success of his single has landed him before the judges of R&B Reality Television Show The Next. Saturday, December 7th BeNda takes center stage for his shot at recording in JOI (Jagged Edge Recording Studio), a feature on a national compilation, a music video appearance and national recording deal. The event takes place Saturday, December 7, 2007 at the U.S. Beer Company located at 1801 N Clybourn in Chicago. The event will be hosted by Jagged Edge, The Chief Rocker Busy Bee and 581 Muzik Group. There will be finalist of various music categories to be flown to Miami for the final round and to attend a star-studded comedy, sports & hip-hop celebrity bash.
