Blind Spot is a 5 piece hard rockin’ band hailing from Revelstoke B.C. Our music is an eclectic blend of the past the present and the future. We like to zip up the oldies such as Aretha Franklin and throw in a little classic rock on the B side of the album, then give you a taste of some new rock, like Wolfmother and Foo fighters then just to top it off we hit you with some of our own rockin’ spacey beats The band came together in April 2004. We spent the first year in the basement honing our sound before we took it to the stage. Kaylee Knecht the lead vocalist and I Wanetta Stroo the rhythm guitarist had been working together in Coopers Foods in the early 2000’s and played in an all girl band to learn our instruments. Kaylee left to train and work as a dental assistant, but returned 2 years later to work here in Revelstoke. Although I had only been playing guitar a few short years, Marty Stroo the lead guitarist and also my wonderful husband suggested we play together in a band. Marty had played on the road for many years and had 25 years experience. With Kaylee on vocals and Marty & I on guitars, we set out to procure Leslie Wilkins for the drums. She had married into the Stroo circle of friends. She had never played in a band but was one awesome drummer, so we had to have her. We soon discovered that Leslie had a beautiful singing voice that melded well with Kaylee’s, so she handles a lot of the backing vocals. We had three bass players prior to Heidi Bender joining the band in late 2006. She was our missing link. After only a couple of months with us the originals began to flow. We have been touted as being an “all girl band” when in fact we do have the token male! If not for Marty’s experienced leadership Blind Spot would not have been born and become what we are today. Our ages range from 26 to 51, which is why we have such an interesting and eclectic musical pallet. We all have a love for music and a need to rock! We have now finished our first CD “Past Lives”. I (Wanetta) have written the lyrics, and the melodies to date have come from Marty and Heidi. Everyone contributes to the creative process until we are happy with the result.
