Born in Lee Country, VA., a small coal mining town; my dad was a coal miner. In 1960 coal miners were on strike. During the minor's strike someone set our home on fire. Dad got us all out of the house, as we watched it burn to the ground. Losing everything, work was hard to find, we moved to Cincinnati, OH. Dad’s plan was to take us back home to VA, but that never happened, he died in 1968. Before he died; he bought my first guitar and said “little girl teach your self to play, write an answer to a song for me”. I grew up listening to nothing but country music from Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton, Bill Anderson and many others. Later on at the age of 18 yrs old, I met a DJ from WUBE (B-105 FM) Radio in Cincinnati, Dave Scott. He asked me to play my guitar and sing for him. Dave organized a band and that was the start of my performing. When Country Performers came to the Taft Theater in Cincinnati, Dave was their Master of Ceremonies and he would take me with him. I was able to meet and talk with the Great Performers of Country Music like…Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams Jr., Conway Twitty, Barbara Mandrell & many others. Standing back stage and watching them walk out to perform. It felt like I was walking out there with them. At 20yrs old I moved to Memphis. I met Jerry Lee Lewis, Dee Presley, and through Dave I met a wonderful DJ named Les Acree. One year later I moved back to Cincinnati. I continued to sing in bands around the area. A few years later, I married, gave my heart to the Lord and had four children. I stopped performing in public, my dream, became my family, so I dedicated my life to them. I continued to play my guitar and write songs over the years, but only for my family and friends. All of this is why I recently recorded a few of my songs that I wrote over the years. My dreams of music were to write, sing and perform. Now I would like to write for others to sing. So until that day I will continue to sing my own songs. I hope you enjoy my music as much I do in writing and singing them. Be Blessed, Brenda Allen-Kuhn
