Biography

Born in the Bi-Centennial, Brian Collins, like his music, exemplifies the best of the American Spirit – honesty, integrity, and compassion to lift up others; all the while working hard against difficult odds with a Cheshire cat grin on his face. Born in the Bi-Centennial, Brian Collins, like his music, exemplifies the best of the American Spirit – honesty, integrity, and compassion to lift up others; all the while working hard against difficult odds with a Cheshire cat grin on his face. A born entrepreneur, Brian wears many hats in his quest to find the American Dream – producer, engineer, and of course, singer-song writer. His own path has been littered with difficulties, but an optimistic nature has given him the ability to avoid most of the pitfalls…and his desire to see the best in his fellow man has given him the ability to lend a hand to those fellow travelers who have fallen and help them find their own direction. His music reflects that same nature- introspective, brutally truthful, but hopeful. His lyrics are uplifting without being saccharine or trite and banal. They are direct, moving and mature. Brian has shared the stage with regional favorites Angie Aparo, Francisco Vidal and 7 Sharp 9, and his easy going yet hard working nature has led him to the stage with James Otto, Colin Hay (of Men At Work, Zack Brown, the Smithereens, Marshall Tucker Band, Georgia Satellites, Edwin McCain and to tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Blue Light Entertainment (Brian’s booking and publishing company) and the Blue Light Studios (started by Brian in 2005) have produced albums and tracks for hard rockers Skid Row, The Luchagores, Atlantabased rap artists T.I., Twista and Frank White, as well as acoustic rockers Pete Whitfield, Nic Cowan and Tim O’Donovan. The Blue Light Studio facilities are in great demand by producers for the clean, warm sound created in Brian’s personally designed recording rooms. Brian Collins, and the Brian Collins Band have recently released a new EP “Good Things” (January 2008) (featuring the track “Start Believing”) and a full length album “To Me from Myself” (July 2008). A follow up album “Outside Your Window” was released late Fall 2008. The music follows Brian’s emotional path from naïve to jaded to wizened and appreciative. Stylistically, the tracks reflect the inherent hopefulness in Americana and the angst of rock as Brian travels his journey of personal growth and takes a look back at his path – telling his younger self what to watch out for, but understanding that he still has to go through the obstacles to mature. Brian’s latest project – in partnership with fellow entrepreneur and radio personality Thomas Cage is “Living Room Radio” and the “Living Room Radio Concert Series” – a program designed to take the best of up-coming regional performing musical artists and acts, and give them a chance to perform their original material in an intimate setting – Brian’s skill at recording and producing live events makes the recordings of the “Living Room Radio” concerts sound as clean and warm as if they were recorded in studio and not on a stage in front of a dynamic audience. The concert series is partnered with compilation albums of mastered live tracks of the artists on the “Living Room Radio” stage. Brian Collins keeps an active performance schedule, traveling the country for over 180 dates a year, mostly in the South-East to the Mid-West. Brian says he “sees the potential in others, and wants to help them realize it and utilize it” and that he gets great satisfaction “helping and watching new artists grow”. As his lyrics say, Brian Collins sees that the more the odds are against him, the more driven he is to succeed, and the more satisfaction he has when he “Starts Believing” in the “Good Things”.
