Born in Atlanta, GA by the age of 8 was already singing with his older brother’s band. By age 12 he started singing in the Doowap groups, to the likes of the Temptations, Delfonics, Chi-Lites and that is where the tight harmonies came from. Later Grady would stop all together because of his voice changed. Shady started out singing tenor, by age 15 the tenor had changed to a deep baritone. He then went solo and started singing in the various talent shows, to the likes of Barry White, Al Green, and Teddy Pendergrass. After high school, Shady attended the Art Institute of Atlanta to pursue a dream of being a graphic artist. He did well but the music came calling once again. By now the voice was a silky mixture of Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Al Green, Barry White, and a little Teddy P. at times. Shady was the front man for a few bands but soon got tired of doing cover tunes, and fell out of sight only to turn up in a studio as an engineer. A studio he and his brother Jessie Pitts started called “Priesthood Production.” The studio is still going strong on the ATL scene today. This is where Shady’s gospel experience kicked in. He started singing and writing gospel songs, as well as, producing local talent. During this time period Shady’s old friend Mr. Roylee Johnson invited him to the RoyJohn studio to help out on some blues music he was working on. Shady was at this time a very good music engineer and producer, however, he was inspired by Roylee to return to the Priesthood studio to do a Blues CD. Shady and his brother Jessie started collaborating on the project. That is when the call came to ask if Shady would be up for co-founding Sana Sound Recording. Sana is a well known band leader in the ATL. Once the Sana studio was open for business Shady would put his personal music on the back burner. His time was devoted to engineering and producing, as well as, working with the talent that was being discovered through the Priesthood studio. Both studios were turning out projects. Then a break in the action came about while working between the two studios. The sound began to come together and “Bigggshady” was coming up with lyrics, songs, and melodies that just touched your soul. Now, Bigggshady has molded into that deep vocalist with words that bite and hook you with that old school flava.
