What is Cabrio? Cabrio is the brainchild of Josh Harrison and Curtis Barnett, at the time two unknowing teens who would form one of Dallas’ indie/alternative underground bands. The band was formed in summer of 2005 by Josh (Vocals/Acoustic Guitar) and Curtis (Lead Guitar) as an acoustic project. The duo would play at local coffee bars and venues in Dallas for the next year until work began on their first EP. “Words Can’t Say”, a six track EP was recorded at the home studio of a friend and guitar teacher Thom Hanby. Soon after the two printed and stuffed their own CD’s eager to hear what people thought. Several hundred EP’s later the duet was ready to take on the next challenge. That next challenge was to tackle a full band arrangement. With the addition of Nick Carlough (Rhythm Guitar), Trent Holloway (Bass), and Michael Flores (Drums), the lineup was complete. The three new band members were emerging from a previous two year project and were eager to start something fresh and new. The first rehearsal with all five members was an immediate success; this was it, exactly what they were searching for. Throughout the next year the five high school teens played gigs two or three times a month showcasing their original music. In May of 2007 they recorded the first full band EP entitled “On the Shoulders of Giants” at January Sound Studio in Farmers Branch, TX. Within two months of the release of “On the Shoulders of Giants” the first batch of 500 CD’s was completely depleted. Over the next year Cabrio continued to play several shows monthly drawing considerable crowds to the excitement of many Dallas’ venue managers. In summer of 2008 Connor Veteto (Keys) was added to the band, making Cabrio a six piece. The band with their new addition was back in the studio, this time with a new and improved sound. This new music featured a much more mature, full sounding band, with stronger vocal melodies, more driving guitars, tighter bass and drums, and the new found texture from the keyboards. The tracks recorded are to be the first half of a full length album scheduled for release in 2009.
