In school he was active in sports programs including football and baseball. At a early age he developed a love for Country Music and listened to country artists such as The Bellemy Bros., Garth Brooks, George Strait, Johnny Lee and Johnny Cash. Chris had a passion for singing and looked for ways to develop his ability through church and choir. He joined the Marine Corps and still pursued his love for Country Music by performing where and when ever he could. In 2002, Chris signed a two year contract with AMI Records, Nashville, TN. During his association with AMI, he recorded two songs in Nashville "Bittersweet" and "Say Anything". "Bittersweet" was released to radio stations all over the U.S. and reached number 7 on the "Inside Country Charts". In 2005, the band had split up. Chris, still eager to get out and play, heard about a contest on the local radio staion called "The Colgate Country Showdown" He sent his demo of the two songs he recorded with AMI Records and received a response telling him he was one of the top five finalist that would perform at Incahoots in San Diego. Chris won the contest and advanced to the State Championships that was held at the L.A. Country Fair in Pomona. Five more contestants performed and Chris was chosen to represent Southern California at the Regionals which was held in Elko, Nevada.
