Christy Hays is a born musician. Her memories from childhood are the smell of the inside of an old electric guitar case and the vast flat fields of corn in central Illinois. Surrounded by music, her father exposed her to the blues, the radio exposed her to classic country, and meanwhile, life in a small town makes a person introspective. Always an intuitive onlooker, even the mundane seemed interesting to Christy and her songs reflect a unique perspective on life. Her writing style is an inner monologue that transports the listener to the moment. One get's a sense of the gravity that exists in the moments that make up a day. Her songs are everyday stories, identifiable and memorable. In 2003, Christy moved to Alaska after finishing her forestry degree in southern Illinois. She stayed there for the better part of four years, traveling the world in the winters. The isolation satisfied a large part of her, but not her need of self-expression through music. She made the decision to relocate to Tennessee in 2007. After a brief stint in Memphis, Christy moved to Nashville where she played on the local scene with her band. In the spring of 2009 she entered the recording studio and made her first record for just under $2,000 with a $500 pressing budget. She then took her bass player, Dominic Fisher, on the road for three months as a duo, driving all the way from Tennessee to Alaska to promote the album. The self-titled debut and tour was a success. Christy and Dominic decided to leave Nashville for the greener pastures of Austin, TX, landing in the Lone Star state just weeks before Christmas of 2009. There, they decorated the aloe plant with candy canes and wished for a five piece band. You can now catch Christy on the Austin scene with talented and dynamic group of musicians playing original and thoughtful music for all those who care to listen
