Biography

The 8-track stereo blares the "Immigrant Song." The sun has burned off the last whispers of morning haze. A gleaming, cherry red '67 GTO roars past the cornfields and silos on a forgotten highway. The summer wind rushes through your hair, and you suddenly realize what it is to be free. Scenes like these play over and again in one's mind when listening to "You're what you wish you are…," the debut CD from Harlem, NY rock band Citizens Of Contrary Knowledge. The music is purely modern and original while evoking the passion, spirit, and volatility of the music of the Seventies. Modern Rock in a love affair with the greatest music ever made. Dubbed "Harlem's rebirth of Rock", this band of 4 journeyman musicians has earned much deserved indie success with their first release, having licensed their haunting song "House of Cards" to Showtime's hit series, "The Tudors", starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, for the U.S. and international ad campaigns for its hugely successful second season. Their music can also be heard on Nickelodeon's "Drake and Josh" and "Zoey 101", MTV's LOGO network, and College Sports Television. Their music has been in medium to heavy rotation on college radio, on internet and satellite radio, and in pod casts, and the politically charged song "Wrong Side Of The World" is featured in the independent film "PBI: Paranormal Bureau of Investigation" from Alpha and Omega Films. The band's infectious funk-rock song "Complicated" climbed to #13 on Clear Channel Radio's independent music channel, "NEW!" Citizens' much anticipated sophomore effort "Contrary Radio" can be downloaded for free for a limited time at www.citizensrock.com/contraryradio.html
