His mysterious, influential and relentless talents in the folk and rock avenues have been a powerful achievement to both musicians and fans. From the depth of his lyrics, to the insight of his well-developed style of musicianship, he is a defining character and a leader in his genre and his style and his music speaks for itself. His debut album “Bury Me Deep In The Ground” released on June 19th, 2009 has shown deep singing and songwriting talent that is magnificent. The album features such songs as “Dear L”, “The SF Earthquake of 1906” and “Running for the Train” that have made memorable and lasting impressions as they are works of art which seem both modern and timeless. His two podcasts on itunes; Dylan for virgins and On the Run have been met with wide anticipation and praise from musicians, fans, and individuals in the music industry. Fluent in many of the arts; such as painting, writing and music, Rink started out working odd jobs around Vancouver in 2006, scrimping and saving until he was finally able to purchase his first guitar. His deep interest in personalities, people and in the arts, lead Rink to become a Busker on notorious Granville Island; a collective arts movement for musicians, and street performers. Practicing and playing through open mics at night while still working and going to school at Simon Fraser University, he began to gain a following in the venues he performed which at the time were mainly coffee shops and restaurants. Creating a buzz around Vancouver’s music scene, he worked his way up from the shadows of playing coffee shops to showcases, bars and nightclubs throughout the city. Currently, he has performed at virtually every live music venue in the Vancouver area. His performance at the Yale Jazz Club in Downtown Vancouver marked a triumphant and significant milestone for Rink as an accomplished singer/songwriter as he recorded his first live CD there in 2008. Later that year, one of his paintings was featured in the Port Moody City hall as part of a professional exhibit as an extra in works marking the group of seven. The media coverage on Rink’s journey has been one of constant success, beginning from his first magazine publishing when he was featured in cover story of the September/October issue of Canadian Musician Magazine, as well as in local spreads, blogs and posts over the Internet. His goals, at being a musician full time as a career excites Colin and drives his passion to, s he puts it so perfectly from one of his songs “mak[ing] sure my foot’s still in the door”. Throughout this brief period, Rink has already begun to turn head gaining fans and lovers of his unique style and charisma as he is “building a following and rising up through the ranks of Vancouver’s music community” (Eagle Psalms, Canadian Musician). From his debut album, website, podcasts, ring-tones and all other Colin Rink avenues that he has followed thus far, have only begun to scratch the surface, and the excitement behind this influential performer keeps building.
