Biography

In a world fraught with cynicism and decay, Danni Rosner shines like the sun. The loquacious twenty-six year old chanteuse is one of a new breed of pop singer/songwriters responding to an uncertain world by looking inward. In a world fraught with cynicism and decay, Danni Rosner shines like the sun. The loquacious twenty-six year old chanteuse is one of a new breed of pop singer/songwriters responding to an uncertain world by looking inward. A perfectionist, Rosner exacts every ounce of truth and emotion from her life; mining the soil of her heart for anything of value and illuminating those gems into song. ”I’m drawn to unique music. Danni occupies a space that no one else inhabits, while still being pop in all the best ways.” - Danny Kalb, Producer/Engineer (Ben Harper, Beck, A Fine Frenzy, Rilo Kiley, Jack Johnson). Danni Rosner doesn’t just reach out to listeners through her music, she builds relationships. Like your best friend musically baring her soul, Rosner writes about the ups and downs of being a twenty-something in a complicated world. There is an unfeigned sincerity in her approach that appeals to listeners of all ages, while musically she inhabits the pop triangle that exists between Missy Higgins, Tori Amos and Regina Spektor. Rosner writes about her own experiences growing up in language that is universal and appealing. She makes you want to know more, and she’s willing to share. While Rosner laughingly acknowledges that she’s forgotten more music theory than she remembers, she was imbued with a deep love of music from an early age by her piano playing father. Rosner would make up melodies and lyrics to her dad’s playing, not knowing the songs were classics of the American Songbook or hits by artists such as The Doors, Chick Corea, The Allman Brothers or even The Beatles. These experiences taught Rosner to hear music without pre-conceptions, opening up a creative world that continues to serve her well. This intense musicality is apparent on each of Rosner’s releases, but fully bloomed on Rosner’s 2009 full length album, Piano Actress. Aside from showing Rosner’s depth as a songwriter, the album mined Rosner’s existential essence and gave voice to the song “In The City”, set to be featured on A&E’s “Teach” starring Tony Danza in October of 2010. If Piano Actress saw the blossoming of Rosner’s sound, then her 2010 EP On My Way finds her talent in full fruition. Rosner has hit her stride as an artist and creative force, blending a confessional and personal lyrical style in a pop musical matrix with atypical melodic sensibility. Add to this Danni Rosner’s ability to reach across the gap between entertainer and audience and you have a singular creative force unlike any seen in pop music in some time. The acknowledgements are just beginning. Aside from the song placement in A&E’s “Teach”, Rosner has earned accolades from the UK Songwriting Contest (Semifinalist in 2009 and 2010) and Mountain Stage/Newsong Contest (Regional Finalist – 2010). But it’s the visceral response of the crowds who see her live that is greatest validation of who Danni Rosner is as an artist. When fans walk away feeling like an artist was singing about them, or their life, you know a chord has been struck. When not making music, you can find Rosner on national television as the host of MHz Networks’ Strictly Global, a Friday night prime time showcase for Indie artists. Rosner was first drawn to television as an intern while studying abroad in Italy. Once she came back to the states she found herself on the production side with MHz and talked her way on air. It is perhaps this quality that most defines Danni Rosner as a performer and as a person. Danni Rosner is a charmer who could talk her way into Fort Knox. It’s her unaffected good nature that opens doors, and that quality illuminates her songs, performances and personality. Rosner doesn’t have to fake sincerity; she lives each moment and takes on each new experience with a veracity of heart that’s difficult to ignore. It is this essential goodness that reaches people. You’ll hear it in her voice in conversation and in her songs. That ardor shines from every pore on stage. Danni Rosner might not be the future of pop music, but the future won’t be nearly as bright without her.
