No strangers to adversity, the band has revised their line-up since the original formation. Now assembled as Mike Smith on lead vocals, Jadee Stevens and Jason Stewart on guitars, Daniel Jones on drums/vocals and bassist, Bobby Edwards – Darkside of Daylight is an explosive mix of performance & music.
With influences that include Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage, Bullet for my Valentine, Unearth, The Faceless and Job for a Cowboy, DoD’s metal-infused riffs & tedious melodies weave seamlessly into the thick percussion laid down by the rhythmic duo of Jones and Edwards. The combined result takes listeners on an aural roller coaster, leaving even the hardest to impress wide-eyed & wanting more. DoD’s mixture of melody and metal are the ingredients that draw people of all ages & musical preferences to the band. And it’s from that artistic and resilient energy that the business world took serious notice, including Los Angeles-based indie label, Itchy Metal Entertainment.
“I definitely liked their press links and label submission, but it was a YouTube video of their informal acoustic session that really showed me something,” states Ed Fassio, Itchy Metal’s founder. “I spend so much time in the world of high decibels that it’s nice to see a heavier band have the courage and ability to step away from the distortion.”
But the unplugged display alone wasn’t the only thing that impressed Fassio. He explains, “I saw a band working together. Not just two members doing something detached, but an entire cohesive unit creating and performing together to showcase a completely different side of themselves. That showed me an awesome diversity and a rare work ethic that set the stage to truly appreciate and enjoy the band’s heavier works.”
Together, Itchy Metal and Darkside of Daylight have big plans for the future. The band’s management is assembling a multi-city tour that will soon bring their brand of metal to hungry crowds across the country. To help pave the way, Itchy Metal will release a super single ahead of a full length record that is currently in production.
