A proud son of Pacolet, SC, David was surrounded by music every day, in all forms; folk songs, hymns, country and early rock and roll . Influenced by his years growing up, learning to play guitar and coronet, hearing stories about “Captain Turner,” the real “Railroad man,” and the old timers he worked with in the local cotton mill. David began writing music after retiring as a Colonel in the US Army, having been urged by his wife to do what he felt after seeing fellow singer/songwriter Chris Knight in concert. Drawing on the stories of family, the stories of family, the stories of cotton mill workers that he had met, and his Cherokee heritage, David wrote songs in the best story telling tradition, writing songs that made him feel like, “This is what I am supposed to be doing.” He hopes that somewhere in Heaven, all his ancestors are proud of him. David became a BMI Registered song writer, a member of NSAI,ASCAP, and, was also named the 2007 Nashville EIA Male Horizon Country/Pop Vocalist of the year. It’s not hard to hear all of the stories David has become known for, The self published debut CD “By The Carolina Moon” tells of David’s path of his loved ones and friends, through the good times and the bad.
