Having officially formed a short time ago, each member has already been cultured in various musical environments. Kris, vocals, guitar; J, lead guitar; Diamond Jer, bass; and Rich, drums, had one idea in mind. "Creating an original band with the desire to write and record the best music we could was, still is, and always will be our goal." said Kris. Central Pennsylvania Coal Country is their home and Dead Leaves' songs and name are definitely influenced by the dark look and feel of their home area, combined with the need to step out and grow. Proving themselves road worthy, experiencing every horror story possible and having many doors shut in their faces has allowed Dead Leaves to come out a wiser and stronger band in every instance. With an increasing live show fanbase, they decided it was time to take the band to the next level and record and release a 5 song, self-titled EP regionally. That EP had gained international attention by having all five songs ranked in the Top 20 of an international music contest on Garageband.com. The blind review system involved in this contest allows music to be judged on its merits rather than a bands popularity or fanbase. With a need for a long range plan of attack Dead Leaves was picked up by M.E.G. Entertainment, and along with a multi-award winning website designed by Lord Fear Productions, the management / promotional team has been working full force behind the band since early 2000. The securing of management, a Jagermeister sponsorship, and the sale of over 3,000 copies of the 5 song EP without distribution assistance along with the international recognition were among some unexpected successes for Dead Leaves. The total sell out of three pressings of the CD along with other merchandise within the regional market coupled with requests from multiple national music distribution agencies has prompted the release of a full length CD “Your Kind Is Labeled” which has sold in excess of 15,000 copies as an independent artist. Dead Leaves has been recognized by, and remains in continuous contact with multiple independent and major label record companies. The Machine street team is amassing quickly, showing extreme dedication by pushing the idea and the music of Dead Leaves with unparalleled sincerity. The strong tie between the fans and the band has been the ultimate compliment felt by each member of Dead Leaves. The full-length release of “Your Kind is Labeled” is dedicated to the fans. You may find yourself wondering "What is this phenomena known as Dead Leaves?" The music is influenced by a number of artists, but the sound is definitely all their own.
