R&B/Soul singer-song writer, Dominique Clark, a native of Long Island, New York, began her singing career at the age of 5 within the four walls of a Baptist church in a new city she called her home, Durham, North Carolina. Outside of the church Dominique was influenced by a number of musical talents such as Tony Toni Tone, TLC, Monica, Mary J. Blige and the Fugees, just to name a few. Dominique and childhood girl-friends would often fantasize about being these great artists by performing their latest hits for family and friends. Dominique attended Durham School of the Arts where she was able to deeply express herself in music and establish herself as an artist. Singing in countless choral events and shows throughout the city of Durham increased Dominique’s enthusiasm and love for music. Beginning her college career at Hampton University was the first major move towards what she thought was her ultimate career goal, becoming a doctor. She began to associate with students who were also musically driven and who were beginning their journey in the music industry, such as DJ Tay James (Justin Beiber’s official DJ) and Djb- ryte, (the official DJ of Amerie). Once a stress reliever from the world of biology, music, almost immediately, transformed into a number one priority for this young artist. After spending the first and best two and a half years of her college experience in the Hampton Roads area, life began to take a left turn and Dominique found herself at Barton College. She was invited to the campus studio by Sam Harmonix, an old high school friend and producer. In that same night Harmonix was intrigued by Dominique’s singing talent and they co-wrote and recorded her first musical production “Never Let You Go”, a contemporary gospel song. Dominique was later invited to join the One Takers band, becoming one of the group’s leading vocalists. One Takers had their first major performance opening up for Frankie Beverly and Maze at the Amphi Theater in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and were invited to do other shows around the North Carolina area thereafter. Dominique later recorded her first solo project produced and co-written by Harmonix, “My Love”, where she received the name Dee Clark.
