In one of the most poverty stricken communities on the Westside streets of Chicago, Illinois DeVante was born. This singing sensation grew up on the 13th block of Central Park and Roosevelt. While living there he was exposed to the life of innovative and captivating culture called music. First introduced to music at an early age, DeVante’s father instilled in him a variety of music and musicians. On Saturday nights his father would allow him to stay up and listen to what he referred to as “Oldies but Goodies”. Listening was one thing but performing was a whole other world. DeVante along with his older cousin would perform different routines, using anything for microphones and anybody for sell-out crowds. The two would perform such routines to all kind of songs from New Edition to Bobby Brown to Al B Sure. I describe my music as “feel good music” people can listen to my songs during certain situations and times in their lives and experience a feeling of satisfaction. Along with that I also want to convey to the world an inspiration to love themselves and to love someone. I want to convey love, life, and happiness through my work.
