Welcome to Disforia's page! Disforia was formed in May of 2007 by Boe Mathewson and Daniel Vernon. They had been friends since they were children and decided that it was finally time to get a band started. They checked around with people they knew and found a drummer. Chad Welch. They thought he was gonna be the for sure drummer since he was in a former band with Boe Mathewson called "Nos Norma", but then they found some kid on the internet that had just quit his old band "UNRATED" and was looking for a fresh start so they decided to try him out. He was better than Chad so they welcomed him to the band. The Name - Casey Frederick. They also knew a kid named Chad Anderson which was in a former band with Daniel Vernon called "Love Stain" With Boe's alternative/death metal background, Daniel's Rock/Metal background, Chad's Blues background, and Casey's everything background, they started writing songs. Now all they needed was a singer. "We found Chandler over the internet, too." Says Boe. "We thought since we had good luck with Casey that maybe it would be the same thing with Chandler." It was...for like a month. "Chandler was fired because he has a horrible work ethic and no willingness to be to practice." Retorts Casey. Next Singer the band had was Steven. Steven had a great work ethic but his voice didn't fit the band, nor did his songs he had written by himself. After "about 3 weeks or something" Steven was out of the band. "Our next singer was was Dorian, an old friend who always smelt of wierd teas and vitamins. I have known him since 7th grade. He played our first show with us." A couple days before the first show, Dorian decided that he didn't want to be in the band anymore and wanted out but Casey convinced him to stick it out and play the show that was 2 days away. He did. There are some videos on youtube.com if you want to see them and the singer search continued. Next dude on the chopping block was a gentleman named "Xander" pronounced "Zander". He had one practice with the band and then never contacted us back. "We liked Xander but then he dissapeared from the face of the earth and that was that." Chad recalls. Next singer the band had was Amber. She had a great voice, great lyrics, but she usually had to have someone sing with her but that was ok too. We played our next show at "The Avalon" and she forgot all her lyrics so that was a bummer. She quit shortly there after. There are some pictures of her up in the bands "my photos" section. If you're counting, to this point the band had played 8 shows; 2 (two) with singers, 4 (four) instrumental, and 2 (two) with Vocals. How you ask? The members of "Disforia" stepped up to the plate, wrote lyrics and sung the songs themselves. Boe sang "Zebra", Daniel sang "Rebellion", Chad sang "Falling" and "War" and Casey sang "Disforia". Within that, they helped each other out by singing parts that the other couldn't. "I remember that being a refreshing change." Casey remembers. "It had been so long with no vocals and no lyrics that when we finally wrote them and worked out the vocal parts, we were all so excited. It really bonded us together as a band and as musicians. We could finally tell people, 'Wait, you have to come to this one! We have Vocals now!!' [laughs] and it was good. After we added vocals, it really gave the songs some life." The band went a couple of months without an official singer and then tried out a fellow named Josh Swenson. His history included being the screamer for a band and nothing else. He hadn't sung before he came to "Disforia" but he soon saw the light. The guys all showed him their parts and within about a week, he had all the lyrics memorized. "We were super impressed by his work ethic. Its like, you put a quarter in a machine and you watch it flash and give you a gumball. We bought him soda and he flashed and gave us vocals. Fast. He also had a ton of his own lyrics that he worked in and added to ours." Daniel says. The band played a couple shows with him and decided he was the one. In February, the band went into the studio and made a 5 song demo. Thats what the videos below are from. You can purchase the demo from any one of them or pick one up at the next show. They are only $5.00 so what do you have to lose? (Besides Five Bucks!) On April 16th, 2008, Boe decided he wanted to end his journey with "Disforia" so he quit. He is currently playing the band "Krossair". "Disforia" decided after this that staying a 4 piece would be most beneficial at this point and has already written two songs since Boe decided to leave. They feel its their best material yet. So that brings us up to date. The mixture of all that is holy and kickass makes this band not just another local band to over look. This one is going somewhere. They have the dedication. Watch out for this one.
