I performing at a jazz club called Ray’s on the river in Atlanta, Ga from 2000 to 2005.
Playing cover tunes and originals.
In the late 90’s I did a lot of traveling with nostalgia groups like
The Tams, The Drifters, The Platters and The Coasters.
Living in the south we love to hear the old songs
Especially from groups who’s names begin with THE.
I was the bassist and bandleader for several of these groups.
In the early part of the 90’s I did a lot of jazz gigs. I opened for acts like
Stanley Jordan, Marcus Miller, Jan Hammer and Pieces of a Dream. Just to name a few
I got a chance to play with a few gospel icons like
Shirley Caesar, Inez Andrews, Dorothy Norwood and Albertina Walker.
In the Late 80s I was bassist/Vocalist for the Elgin Wells Group
We did a 10yrs house gig at Ray on the River
In the early 80s.oh boy! Glamour time!!
Shiny suits and purple guitars and lots of makeup.
In 1982, 1983 I tour for the armed forces D.O.D.
With my own group call
Vinni and Doc and Night lift
I became an opening act for groups like:
Earth, wind & fire, Commodores, Kool and the gang, Tower of power…
It was good, it taught me humility.
I played guitar and sang lead for a group called Ripple.
The group was signed to GRC records. We had several hits. With one going gold.
The late 60s and early 70s I’d been away from home several years by then.
In 1968 I worked in Vegas at the Union Plaza which was Downtown Vegas
And then at Caesar’s Palace on Cleopatra’s Barge.
In the late 70s I found myself in Kansas City playing for Marva Whitney,
And Al Green. A lot more happen in this era of my life but I thought
One page is enough ((smile))…
