I am Edot, a.k.a Man On Fire, a.k.a The Backbone Of The City. Straight out of Newark,N.J. Hip-Hop is my passion but I also love Jazz,Rock, and R&B music. I am the first artist on my own indie label, which is called Stoneaj Records. I feel like my music can be the savior of a city known for hardbody music but has no face to be the pride of it. Im a very laid back, but at the same time im a very passionate, and expressive person. Most of my inspiration comes from the people around me such as my family and my fiance. Im 24 yrs young, 5'7", 140lbs, and on that shit like flies, yah digg?!I am one whos very critical with my craft. Those who know me know i used to be a beatmaker as well, but my passion for writing seemed to grow stonger so i took rapping more serious.I also used to be in a four man group. Now as a solo artist i found myself, and mastered what i do best. When i was 18 yrs. young unfortantly my life took a very hard, twisted turn when my mother and aunt both had an untimely death. This took me into a fast downward spirial. Soon i would learn how to use this as my inspiration & motivation. Now i promise to make both of them very proud, and with this rap shit i vale to keep my promise. “I was influenced to rap when I first started listening to D.J. Clue’s Monday Night Mixtape, every Monday Night. I was already loving music. Music touched me, but when I heard dudes like The L.O.X., D.M.X., Jay-Z, B.I.G., 2-Pac, Wu-Tang and etc., I just had to tape it every week. That was as real as it got, live on the air. I knew for a fact that was what I wanted to do when I grew up. Rap became my love, my life, my everything.” DOT is straight to the point, musically, nothing more, nothing less. Blunt, but intriguing enough to always captivate. DOT simply means point, blank, period. Even with a flat out, all the chips on the table swagger, his vivid picture painting flow is the key. DOT has three images. First, it’s DOT, your everyday civilian, the average Joe. Secondly, there’s The Man On Fire, who always thinks out of the box, and is always on the edge, so-to-speak. Finally, The Backbone Of The City, who is most confident, cocky, & independent. T.B.O.T.C. is the go to guy, the most uncommon. Emil A.O. Perry, (Born March 5th 1985) known as DOT, is a male rapper from Newark, N.J. . He grew up in a fairly calm home with his single mom and without his father, who was continually in prison. Struggling with the death of his sister, mom, and aunt all within 10 years, some consecutive, caused DOT to lose focus in school and in life. Not to mention having to confront the loss of many schoolmates growing up in the neighborhood. Working at nothing but dead end jobs, and running the streets, he dedicated all of his free time to pursuing a music career. DOT started off in a four man group called P-gang when he was fourteen years old. After five years he decided to go solo. DOT soon branched out and started his own independent record label, STONEAJ RECORDS, which is represented by DOT and ANGIE HEPBURN. “I wrote my very first song around ten or eleven years old“. I started off like most MC’s writing over another artist on their beat. ” I had a song called my street. I wrote it over Bonita Applebum. It was really simple, but catchy. ’My Street’ was all about the little things I did on my street-my block, that we’re so small, yet, I thought those small things were so big. I look back at that song now and laugh, but I still respect it.” Ironically, they always say ‘He sounds like he’s 6 ft. plus‘, when he is really 5ft 7in.. The stoner brings a crazy house, under anesthetic, straight forward swag, and with that he always thinks out the box. ”Risky is fresh, and fresh will always be the most creative. Only because creativity is undenyingly Different.” DOT will rap over a jazz beat to prove and remix the same song on a rock beat. That’s just STONEAJ music.
