ELEPHANTS ON ACID

Leeds

Biography

Elephants on Acid first got together in January 2008 after two nights and two days of jamming in a dusty Hyde Park basement in Leeds. Their first songs were recorded the next day, just a few hours after Singer Andrei Nosov decided he didn’t want to be the rhythm guitarist for The Blueskins any more. Drummer Calvin Sargeant, just out of drunken coma, managed to keep the beat well on Elephants’ famous fans’ favourite, ‘Miss Me When I’m Gone’. Surprisingly, Elephants got into gigging immediately and played solidly around the country throughout 2008, releasing two EPs and selling over 200 copies of them without any help from record companies. Their fearless live performances amazed hundreds of gig goers, some of whom became fans instantly. The mass of shaking hair provided by the little monster of a bass player Q, in contrast with the stone-cold eyeballs of keyboardist Eyeballs, terrified the audience and seemed to work like a magnet for their ears. EOA have been called ‘The new Doors’, ‘The Mothers of all Cream’ and ‘Psychedelic blues monsters’ for a good reason: no one has heard anything close to their sound since 1969! Elephants record new tracks every month, so we can expect a new record from them at any time plus tour dates wherever their crazy freak flag may take them in 2009.
