music is not my day job:)but...Hello! Music has been a part of my life since I could talk. Mom was a musician (voice, trumpet and french horn), Dad as well (singer). From early on in life, I sang in choir and acted in musicals. True music entered my life in the form of a trumpet, then a french horn, and finally voice again. Piano was always around to supplement the vocals; but something was always missing. I could win any award, enter any orchestra, and was offered a full ride on the french horn. But I wanted to write songs that I could share. We listened to country, Elvis, Cash, standards, showtunes, the top 40 and whatever my peers had on at slumber parties when I was growing up. It wasn't until I discovered Ani, Melissa Ferrick, Tegan and Sara, Beth Orton and the Geraldine Fibbers (all in the same year) that I began to think about the tunes behind the words I was writing.I tried a few guitar lessons, but preferred self-study. Quickly and "pickly" frustrated, I ditched the pick after seeing Beth Orton thumb strum in Vancouver. If she can do it, so can I! It changed forever how close I felt to the guitar, my technique, and how I felt when I touched the instrument.Last year I had a couple sessions with what I call a "folk coach." I don't know if she would refer to herself as that! I am so excited to see how I progress. I know I have years of work ahead of me. This will be a place to share where my music takes me. I hope you enjoy:)Feedback is welcomed. I'm not shy. Remember, I am using sound recorder and a computer mic to record these. Sorry, no fancy equipment. Not even a 4-track. Might be fun someday. I have a buddy who has played some solos on some of my songs before, and she makes my day with how they sound with that.CiaoEllee
