“E” The R&B/Hip Hop Rockstar Ernest Poindexter by birth and “E” the R&B/Hip Hop Rockstar by trade. Despite the name, no, Mr. Poindexter isn’t the next college professor or breakthrough chemist; “E” is a West Philadelphia native who moved to the DC area in 1999 to pursue his dream of becoming the next soulful R&B sensation with a dash of Rock-N-Roll. His passion for music goes as far back as childhood when he would play music for his friends’ parties and eventually established himself as a premiere DJ on the east coast. While his role as a DJ bolted like lighting - opening doors for him to spin at major hot spots in DC, E's love for the turn tables helped him transition into songwriting and discovering just how talented he is as a vocalist and performer. His intoxicating melodic R&B vocals, his light undertones of HIP-HOP smoothed over by a clean laid back swagger and his on stage presence of a ROCKSTAR is what lead him to share the stage with the national recording artists "Musiq Soulchild", Russell Simmons new sensation Blac Buddafly, Avant, Marsha Ambrosius (formerly of Floetry) and Styles P just to name a few. “E” is very humbled by the critics praising his body of work and gives tribute to his influences such as Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Mint Condition, D'Angelo, R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, and Lauryn Hill. When asked how he could be an element of inspiration to the music industry, he gracefully smiled and says, “I am here to help elevate the already wonderful state of R&B music and is bidding for his voice to be heard. I want my career to continue to progress, to me that's the key to longevity, my ultimate goal is to be a well established artist, producer and songwriter the world over.” Thankful for the recognition and hungry for continued success, he has just come out of the studio after five years of hard work to celebrate and promote the release of his highly anticipated debut album entitled The Prelude. The Prelude features productions from some of the music industry’s hottest up-and-coming producers: Romeo Jade (FaceMen Productions), Dante Richmond (Golden Boy Entertainment), Jewels (Sunz of Soul/Infinite Soul Music LLC) and the new phenomenon from Virginia, Max Methods (Street Star Studios). Soultrack.com’s writer, Melody Charles, wrote of “E” and The Prelude, “Talents like E.'s are not anything to sneeze at, so as he cultivates them and adds to his repertoire, the awards and accolades are sure to keep on coming. The Prelude, for now, is a decent start that whets the appetite of what more he's capable of in the near future.” Awards and Accolades: • Nominated for two 2008 DMV EMA Awards, 2008 • “Childs Luv” from The Prelude was added to 96.3 WHUR’s play list in February 2009 • Created own interactive website / social network community @ www.thekartelnetwork.com, Feb. 2008 • Winner of the R&B Category in Faces in the Crowd Industry Showcase, 2007 • Featured Performer at When World Collides, Velvet Lounge 2007 • Guest on TV ONE Dating Game Show “Get the Hook Up” 2006 • DJ for the Latin HIP-HOP artist CRISTOPOLIS • Performed the National Anthem at RFK Stadium for DC United in front of 18,000 soccer fans 2006 • Featured Performer at “On The Spot” concert series, Zanzibar 2006 • Recipient of the UIMA (Urban Independent Music Awards) two consecutive years; 2004, 2005 • Featured Performer at Suitland Fest 2004 & 2005 • Featured Performer at Cornucopia Music Festival 2005 • Over 78,000,000 Myspace Profile Views with an average of 15,000 to 20,000 plays a day www.myspace.com/eprelude
