Like a mighty Phoenix victoriously rising from out of the ashes Julius E. Whitsett, formerly known as “EJ” from the sensational R&B group: “Hustlechild”, reinvents himself as he steps out of the shadows of a successful recording trio to embark on a NEW solo career with a brand new sound as the artist self-proclaimed: “Finess”.
Finess, a native of Philadelphia, is no stranger to paying his dues and
working hard. As a former member of “Hustlechild” this up-and-coming solo
artist helped build the group by landing an impressive recording contract with By-Storm Entertainment / Elekra Records within their first year. Under the supervision of recording moguls such as Sylvia Rhome, Mark Pitts, and Wayne Barrows the label took “Hustlechild” to new levels of success.
From their first hit single entitled: I’m Cool, which was in heavy rotation
on BET (Black Entertainment Television), to performing as the opening act for the late great Gerald Levert on the Vibe Live Tour the group quickly accumulated a loyal fan base.
As featured in Vibe Magazine the group also performed at the By-U-Classics in New Orleans, made special appearances
throughout the Tri-State area, attended autograph signings at Sally Beauty Supply Stores, made radio appearances and held several photo shoots for a campaign with Pro-Line Hair Products while performing at the House of Blues in New York City.
Currently, Finess, is busy putting in the hard work and long hours writing,
arranging, and co-producing his debut album entitled: Never Stop Tryin’.
With a mixture of his silky soulful voice and hot brand new songs written from the heart, Finess’ debut album promises a little something for everyone. Finess is looking forward to seeing his album on the charts, ultimately reaching No. 1. You see, no work is done without great expectations.
No success is ever gained by caution. Finess is proving that if you work hard, if you want it bad enough, then don’t ever give up and most importantly... Never Stop Tryin’! - See you on the R&B Charts.
