Garden Side is a band whose music roams freely within the boundaries of contemporary Rock music. Whether coming from the sensitive and soulful side (Forever), the gritty and heavy side (Number 9) or from the atmospheric and textural side (Art School), you never get the feeling that you are straying from the Garden SIDE. Although you may hear shades of Lenny Kravitz, Ben Harper, Stone Temple Pilots, John Mayer and even Led Zeppelin, the members of this power trio have managed to mix their respective loves and tastes into a truly original, identifiable and memorable original sound. The band is fronted by Badreddine "Buddy K" Kaouassi who moved to the United States from Morocco after coming to America as a teenager and falling in love with the sounds of American rock radio. He decided that to truly explore his passion for this music he needed to adhere to his instincts and immerse himself in the land of Rock and Roll. So with his mothers blessing he moved to the USA to begin his journey in music. Garden Side is the culmination of that passion and the dreams he had of having his own band. Buddy K's vocals and guitar playing closely reflect the passion that he feels about his music. His lyrical content ranges from autobiographical to political while always painting a picture. His vocal style ranges from soft mannered soulful crooning to edgy primal scream type output, sometimes found within the same song. His love's labour has resulted in some finely crafted rock songs that are punctuated by a dynamic rhythm section anchored by Tony DiPietro on the drums. Tony honed his craft by playing in various popular Boston bands including Pistachio and the Brian Maes band. This led to an opportunity to tour across the country as the drummer in (former Sony Workgroup artist) Mary Lou Lord's band. This tour included appearances on the Conan O'Brien, HBO's concert show "Reverb", the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival and LA's famed Troubadour club. All of this experience has turned Tony into a dynamic and thunderous drummer. In Garden Side his true range of percussive talents are utilized to the fullest as the perfect veteran complement to young upstart John Gay on the bass. Together Tony and John lay down the musical backbone or foundation which Buddy then uses as a canvas to paint for you his pictures of the “Garden Side”.
