You name it, I do it. Anything from graphics to producing, I enjoy it as an artist & a person. My music gets me more intact of my humbleness. The results are nothing than what they suppose to be, crisp. I jumped into music over 8 to 10 years ago listening to the most complex artist in the game, Marshall Mathers. Being my favorite rapper, I listened and micro-scoped his vocabulary, rhyme schemes, deliverance, productivity, versatility, and performances. Listening to each song on his album, writing the lyrics down without looking at the original in the book. Trying to see how he formulated certain wordplay and definition. I was shocked enough to say, I was almost 100% with the lyric mimicking; almost. High school roll around, who didn't want to pursue ''that'' life style? There were new artist everyday, which made it harder to gain the respect you needed as one; but it's all part of the game. I secretly was building my database up of lyrics. Along came a partner in crime, Willie P.. Someone who made me step my game up everyday when I spoke to him. We impacted each other to get involve a little more serious about music. At the time, he owned a Yamaha keyboard which means he was the only & first producer I know. Fast forwarding, we came across a close friend who wanted to join as a third party, not as a group. C.Paul had knowledge about how to get instrumentals and he was the first to embark our first studio recording session together. After we heard ourselves for the first time together over a beat, that was all she wrote. We became PCG, so well bonded with each other to know this group is forever. We adjusted to our phase changes in school & in music. All of us needed each other; from hooks to beats to concepts. After the first mixtape released, few were taking us seriously, but many respected us. When the cd hit the spotlight, so did our faces. Now we have other classmates asking & whispering to be on the "next" cd. Neither of us had no intention of another cd until people started asking about it. The next mixtape was beyond heavy with features. We had the baddest female rappers we ever heard in our school on this cd. There were outside high school features also, & at the time, no one has done this but us. The majority of the cd, I did the hooks for since that was my cup of tea, since we started this journey. Coming from $50 an hour to $35 an hour was ear candy to us, especially when everybody pitched in. Sooner than later, PCG became somewhat of an idol figure to those who never been in a recording studio before. Everyone we brought with us had a first time experience. So we all got to work instantaneously. Then the real exposure came in packages, lol. We sold & gave out so many copies of that cd, we didn't have any copies of our own. Surprisingly, more people heard through rumors what we were cooking up at the time. So those who were waiting bought & those who didn't believe the hype bought, cause they eventually found out. We had good reviews from upper class-men, had freshmen looking up to us because it gave them a interest to hear one of them on our compilation. Our mixtape became a status booster off the back. If you never asked," who's verse is this"?, people would never know their faces. Then there were others that people known through a popular POV. By this time, our voices were heard and known good enough to make an even bigger mark. The next cd was a classic... The seriousness was bouldering, we knew we were better than majority of those that been in it. The difference between them & us, we sounded different on every song and cd. The next phase was for us to stamp our own beats on this next compilation. C.Paul came across a producing program and we were enlighten to it. Quickly he began mixing sounds together, fixing the small stuff. Me and Willie will receive a call,"Bro, I just made a new beat...you gotta hear it". C.Paul figured out how use the program within days. After our brainstorming, a chemistry teacher came across us with music as a topic. Kerry "The Coach" Gamble, was our guidance into our next project. If it wasn't for him, many young artist and producers wouldn't have the strength behind their craft to carry on. He took us to the next level when it came to recording, critiquing, performing, copyrighting, producing & etc.. He gave us so much wisdom about music, it was hard not to listen to him. After a well spoken conversation, we were given a new contact. Another studio has entered into the play-books, with better sound. We wasted no time booking hours, our songs were so formulated together we zipped through half our album in 2 sessions. He commended us on being prepared every time we came. We had our beats, our lyrics ready, and the songs formated. Honestly, we never went to the studio without being "that" prepared. It was a template for us to have more than 5 songs phone rehearsed before recording. We thought that's how you supposed to do it when it come down to sessions. PCG didn't know how coordinated they were until time passed. Album dropped, it was an instant demand from previous buyers. We minimized the features and still had a crowd of support. Now, a little head banging didn't hurt anybody. The upcoming talent show was the biggest eye opener we ever had. The song we did was written by me and the whole school could relate to it. We went from 3 members to 5 going into our next album, group name HeadBangaz (HB). Now eyes and ears were more open than before about the HB buzz. We never added to this group, so it must mean something when we did. That sparked a lot of attention when people heard of it, but we managed to withhold that information for some time. Our first song together as a group of 5 was bananas. As seniors, we had to top it off with this one. So we did, all five of our styles were different including the change in PCG. Once we set our chemistry level, single after single. The next collaboration change all five of our recording styles at once. We had a feature on the cd from a well known artist name Lil Shide. Once people were on board about the song we did with him, our dislikes became likes for some reason. Funny how that works, we completed two songs with Shide at the time. It was appreciated so much by us, we knew the responses we were going to receive. Those were the few songs we did going into the album and we heard it in the parking lot at school already. The cd was only finished at the time. So this was the much awaited cd of the school year. We finalized every song like it was our last, keeping each other on our toes. Our high school had no competition when it came to anything, we had entirely too much talent. When we finished the cd, it was spreading around like a plague; not just in our school or area. This time we went to other schools passing them out. People that never seen us before was curious, you could sense the swag change I guess. We hopped out the van, got back in & left to the next one. We didn't leave any contact info on the cd's so people weren't able to contact us for anything. So they gave a message to those who knew us, about the cd. Within the next 2 weeks, encore for another album. We were all feeling a bit big at this time. We performed at club venue that was "not" our crowd. Then left straight to our senior activity that same night. We were blasting our music beyond means of loud. This was before the album was complete. Obstacles became to unsubtle later. Disagreements within the group ''before'' college, bad sign. We strayed forward as one of our members parted away to another university. Willie P. was the person I started this with, it didn't hit me until I heard about doing the next album without him. It didn't feel right, until I heard he wasn't stoppin neither. Then I was quite satisfied to know he's still doing him. To be continue... more on gdotmusic.com
