BIOGRAPHY As a boy growing up in Apalachicola and on St. George Island, George Marshall spent his days fishing, swimming and dune surfing (sliding down sand dunes on pieces of cardboard) leaving him with a love of the Gulf of Mexico and the white sandy beaches of the Sunshine State. By age 10 he was listening to and hooked on the musical favorites of his siblings. As a teen, his influences varied and he was driven by his love of the great harmonies of the country-rock band The Eagles. Other artists that inspired and influenced him initially are Alabama, The Charlie Daniels Band, Hank Williams Jr., George Jones, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and David Allan Coe. His music reflects these influences and his traditional rural coastal raising, bringing a heartfelt rustic sound to his vocal delivery. George’s early adolescence and adulthood were spent much the same as everyone else working at an early age, marrying and raising a family. Always singing or humming any one of his favorite tunes, his dream was shelved to make way for reality and responsibilities. After an eye-opening auto accident in late 2006, the realization that he might not ever fulfill his dream spurred him to write his first original song “Right Before My Eyes”. With the support and encouragement of his family, he made the decision to change his career and is now fulfilling that dream full time. After diving into music in early 2007, Montgomery Gentry, Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Trent Tomlinson and Ray Scott instantly set a precedent for his aspiration. To emulate the soulful rock sound of the New Country radio became his goal. George’s first solo live performance was at Ollie Oyster in Hudson Beach, FL on June 20, 2007. Since that date, George performs regularly in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. He has been featured at the Hernando County Fair (Brooksville, FL), North Florida Fair (Tallahassee, FL) and Lee County Fair (Ft. Myers, FL) and has regular scheduled dates at Ollie Oyster in Hudson Beach and BayPort Inn in Weeki Wachee, FL. He has opened for Big Kenny (of Big and Rich fame), and is scheduled to perform at Charlie Daniels fundraiser for The Angelus, Charliepalooza in December of 2010. Songwriting is a new branch in George’s career. As a member of both The Nashville Songwriters Association International and BMI since early 2008, George is currently working with other writers in Nashville and Atlanta in an effort to create new music to appeal to the masses. George released his new CD entitled ‘I'm The Guy' in June 2010, which is comprised largely of George’s own material, as well as two songs written by other writers. It was well recieved and given a good review by Music News Nashville (www.musicnewsnashville.com). George Marshall’s performance schedule can be found and is updated regularly at www.georgemarshallmusic.com
