A Virginia native, I moved to Austin, Texas in late 2010 after self-releasing, TroubleTown, my debut album. I relocated to pursue a music career and to bring my brand of music to the good folks of the Lone Star State. TroubleTown's a collection of original Americana music and you can find it on georgetaylormusic.com and iTunes. My songs are for real world people, about real world situations. My work is truthful, yet hopeful. And while admittedly I’m no saint, my earnest desire is to encourage others to embrace what is right, real and pure in life while providing the soundtrack. I was born and raised in Goochland County, VA. Goochland is a small town between Richmond and Charlottesville, VA. It’s mostly a humble place with good natured people. And it’s close enough to the city for a short trip to town and just far enough away to not sacrifice the charms of country living. To further my education, as society prescribes, I left the Commonwealth for a taste of East Tennessee and independence. At ETSU while learning business, I also learned to embrace the South, including the music. There I encountered Americana, Bluegrass and Acoustic singer/songwriter music. It was there I noticed music’s ability to transcend itself. I began to admire the way songs move beyond understanding and into and through the hearts of listeners. And so the love affair and journey began. After school I worked various jobs, none of which felt right. A cube is but a square and a hard place to fit, particularly when it’s not the shape you’re in. So after working through the subprime mortgage collapse and the bankruptcy/closure of Circuit City Stores I decided to no longer deny my desire to write, and why should I? Haven’t we all learned in these turbulent times that there is no such thing as worldly security? So I’m trading a degree and resume for an ink pen and guitar, making my way one day and one song at a time. While no one knows what tomorrow brings, the past will teach you many things. I’ve learned to embrace my passion and accept my lot in life. Besides, what greater calling is there, than to be a storyteller? I hope you enjoy! Thanks & Love, GT
