Garan Fitzgerald is a bassist with a heavy dose of classical training stirred with a strong desire to rock. Having studied with Homer Mensch at Juilliard and Bruce Bransby at Indiana University, he finds himself itching to play anything put in front of him. His performance experience is in genres reaching from classical to modern, rock to jazz, techno to funk, and he is possessed of a personality which drives him to keep making connections, assuring that he plays in a rather eclectic collection of groups. Currently, he is in South Korea performing and recording with Saint John the Gambler, a group of rising stars in the indie rock scene of Seoul, a tango quartet formed by accordion player Sasha Sheykin, and Bamboo Wife, a jazz/funk collective he and guitarist Nate Rafferty have slowly pieced together over the last few months. The songs he is posting now are from a collaboration he had with folk guitarist and singer/songwriter Christian Nils Larson in 2005.
