One of the new generation of modern bluegrass bands, Ghost Town Showdown hail from the Home Counties and blend traditional bluegrass with their own contemporary sound. Having cut their teeth in various indie bands, the moment of epiphany came whilst seeing Chatham County Line perform live at Polar Central in Brighton in 2005. Fate having handed them the last two available tickets, brothers Phil and Colin witnessed a life-changing show that proved the jumping-off point for Ghost Town Showdown. In true bluegrass tradition of keeping-it-in-the family (in a purely legal sense), the brothers recruited cousin Simon and set out on the streets of London to hone their skills. Through a series of confrontational guerrilla busks, which subsequently saw them banned from several parts of the capital, they are now one of the country's leading bluegrass outfits. Their 'round-one-microphone, harmony-driven melodies deliver a truly unique sound - with influences as diverse as country, folk, rock and pop - but listening to their record is no substitute for seeing them 'live'. They've received the thumbs-up from A-listers like Jude Law and have been described by Booker Prize winning author DBC Pierre as, quite simply, a 'f***ing hot band'.
