Gimp Tha Great; a.k.a The Heavyweight Champ), the self proclaimed "Tightest N**ga Witout A Deal", was born and raised amoungst the pine trees and clay roads of Southeast Georgia. Unwilling to sell out his home and claim he is from Atlanta, as many Georgia rappers do, Gimp fully represents "the backwoods". He spits on one track: "Yea I'm from the south, but no I aint from the "A"/ It's country down here where I stay/ We got pine trees for days and streets made out of clay/." In an era of hip-hop where it is expected of southern rappers to "lean wit it", "walk it out", or "shake that laffy taffy", Gimp refuses to go commercial and sticks to the script that original gangster rappers have set forth. He openly professes his reslience to commercialize himself on the very soulful, but angerfilled track "I Won't Stop". He spits: "Before I get turned into a Ying-Yang triplet/ I'll turn around, show 'um my ass and let 'um kiss it/ Or put on a mini-skirt, some high heels, and lipstick/ So me going commercial is so unrealistic/. Rather than give dance lessons, he uses spine tingling punch lines and straight to the point lyrics to captivate audiences. With total disregard of what people may think or say, Gimp vents his frustrations with the rap game, and lets his soul bleed on every track. Unafraid to call the names of big name artists and record lables on tracks, it is evident that he will never back down from anyone. He spits on the amazingly prolific, doom spirited track "Heavyweight Champ": "What the f*ck would I be scared fo?/ You think I'm backin' down from these industry black-ballers, Hell no!/." When asked why he insists on calling names and so blatently undermines accomplished artists he simply replied, "What they gonna do about it? Them n*ggas aint tighter than me." Writing and producing all of his music is not condsidered an accomplishment to him but rather second nature. With undeniable arrogance, amazing swagger, and a huge arsenal of lyrics backed by a wave riding flow, it is clear that the southern rapper is a force to be reckoned with. When asked if he will ever end his quest for stardom and persue other things, he replied, "Music is what I love. As a matter of fact, it is my first love and true love lasts forever. I'll give it up when I make it or die, which ever comes first. As long as the beat's drummin', I won't stop".'
