Howard Bates P.K.A (professionally known as) God's Direction was born in Taegu, Korea to a military family, and due to this reason, he was able to see the world at a young age. He is one of nine children, who at the age of 10, fell in love with the American culture, the music in particular. He started gravitating towards artists such as Tupac, Nas and Dr. Dre. Howard challenged himself to start writing and wrote his first song at the age of 11, and devloped deeper into the culture of hip hop music. Howard has preformed in several talent shows throughout his teenage years, where he gained valuable experience performing. He took his love for the craft one step further, and started recording songs in the studio at the age of 14.
With over 14 years of experience in writing and recording music, he made a life decision and enlisted in the Armed Forces. He spent 7 months in Iraq, but ultimately served 6 years. While in Iraq, he fell away from religion, and when he returned things were even shakier than just his faith. His marriage was on the verge of divorce, but before that happened, his wife suggested going to church, and something touched him there and his faith had been restored, because Howard has since changed his life style and dedicated his life to Jesus Christ, and divorce is not an option now. With the change in his lifestyle, Howard decided to take his music in the direction of gospel, and became God's Direction. God’s Direction is currently an assistant youth pastor at North Church in Columbus, Ohio. The reason for such a turn, besides the personal, was to also become a public servant, and to reach as many young kids and young adults through his music and sermons.
God’s Direction is currently working on his debut album, “Directed by GOD” and a gospel mixed CD. God’s Direction has performed at several churches across the United States. Some of his performances include: Grace Ministries (Columbus, OH), Assembly of Faith, Church of God and Christ (Columbus, OH), North Church (Columbus, OH), SYA Youth Camp (Circleville Christian College), and New Life Christian Ministries (Laurel, MD). His influences are Detrick Haddon, Tye Tribett, and Fred Hammond. His goal as a gospel artist is to be successful in the gospel charts, which will be proof that he is reaching the masses of those who believe, and even those who do not; nonetheless it provides another conduit for him to reach as many souls and help convert as many lives as possible. God’s Direction has a different look and sound, and the vision of the world he has in his head, is due to a strong spiritual base. God's Direction will touch the world with his music.
